Quick Answer (Most Parents Stop Here):
For 2025, 8-10 year old riders do best on 50cc–70cc dirt bikes with seat heights of 22–26 inches. If your child is taller than 4’8” (142 cm) or has 1+ year of riding experience, step up to a 110cc with 26–29 inch seat height — it will last them until age 13-14 without being dangerous.
“2025 Golden Rule from testing 6000+ kids: If both feet can’t touch the ground flat or near-flat while sitting on the seat, the bike is too big — full stop. This one rule prevents over 90% of beginner crashes.”
— cici, Valtinsu Powersports Youth Program Director

Have them stand straight in riding boots (adds ~1 inch).
Measure inseam: floor to crotch.
Multiply inseam × 0.92 → this is the MAX safe seat height.
Example: 24-inch inseam → max 22-inch seat height = perfect 50cc.
Feet-Flat Rule – Both feet flat or balls-of-feet when seated.
Weight Rule – Bike ≤ 75 lbs so the child can pick it up alone.
Throttle Limiter Mandatory – Every bike we ship includes adjustable limiter (0-100%).
Full-face helmet DOT FMVSS 218 + ECE 22.06
Youth neck brace (Leatt or Atlas recommended)
Chest/back protector with shoulder & elbow pads
Motocross boots (not ATV boots)
Pressure-resistant goggles (100% UV + anti-fog)
Short answer: Still gas. The best electric kids bikes (Stacyc, Kuben Carbon) top out at 18 mph and cost $2,000+. A quality 50cc gas bike gives 30+ mph, costs $699–$999, and parents overwhelmingly prefer gas in 2025 surveys.
